How to Add Loyalty Cards to Google Wallet
5 min read
Google Wallet is already installed on most Android phones. When customers can save your loyalty card with one tap, they never forget it at home. Here is the complete guide for small business owners and their customers.
Why Google Wallet matters for loyalty programs
Paper punch cards are lost. Apps get deleted. But Google Wallet stays on the lock screen — customers see your brand every time they check their phone. That passive visibility is the highest-value real estate a loyalty program can occupy.
When a loyalty card lives in Google Wallet, it is one swipe away at checkout. No app to open, no login to remember, no friction. The lower the friction, the higher the participation rate.
Quick stat
Digital wallet pass redemption rates are 3–5× higher than app-based loyalty programs, primarily because the pass is visible without opening anything.
How customers add your loyalty card (3 steps)
Step 1 — Scan your QR code
The customer scans the QR code you display at the register. This opens a branded page showing their stamp progress and reward status. At the top of the page is an "Add to Google Wallet" button.
Step 2 — Tap "Add to Google Wallet"
One tap opens the native Google Wallet save dialog. The pass pre-fills with your business name, logo, and the customer’s current stamp count. They tap "Save" and it appears in their wallet immediately.
Step 3 — Show the pass at checkout
On their next visit, the customer opens Google Wallet, shows the pass, and you scan the dynamic QR code on it to add a stamp. The pass updates in real time — they see progress instantly.
What if they are on iPhone?
Apple Wallet support is on the way — same QR scan, same one-tap save. In the meantime, iPhone customers use their card straight from the browser: same stamps, same rewards, no download.
Setting this up as a business owner
In your Perkpad dashboard, go to Rewards → Settings and enable "Wallet Passes." Upload your logo, pick your brand color, and choose how many stamps a customer needs for a reward. That is it — no developer, no integration, no API keys.
